Dr. Oz Radical Cures Your Doctor Thinks Are Crazy
Your doctor probably thinks he's crazy but Dr. Joe Mercola has spent his career researching and sharing unorthodox health ideas. Dr. Oz put his medical team to work looking into Dr. Mercola's claims to target the biggest names in disease.
Dr. Mercola says these are incredible all natural approaches that can change your life forever.

Why do you believe that western medicine sees everything outside the normal as radical?
Dr. Mercola says that it's not just medicine that sees something new as radical. The natural progression of truth is an idea is seen as craziness until it catches on. He explains that people have experienced great benefit with low-risk and low expense.
Dr. Oz: Dr. Mercola Radical Cure for Skin Cancer - Eggplant
Dr. Oz says he gets concerned when people start using the word "cure" when talking about disease.
Over 100,000 people world-wide have been treated with this eggplant-based cream for non-melanoma skin cancer.
Eating eggplant can provide health benefits but it's the extract from the family of eggplants that when taken is toxic to the skin cancer cells, says Dr. Mercola.
Dr. Mercola recommends Curaderm BEC5 Cream to help reduce non-melanoma skin cancer. Dr. Oz showed a picture of a non-melanoma lesion before applying BEC5 and a picture of the area after using the cream for three months. There was no lesion.
Dr. Oz asked why eggplant extract is not readily available in the US? Dr. Mercola says that it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to study the product which makes it prohibitive.
Dr. Oz's staff contacted dermatologists and not one of them had heard of BEC5. Dr. Oz is worried that people will turn to BEC5 to self-treat a possible skin cancer area instead of visiting a dermatologist and potentially putting their lives at risk. Dr. Oz asks why shouldn't people use a cream that is FDA approved?
Dr. Mercola says that FDA approved creams can be more toxic than BEC5.
Dr. Oz's bottom line on this subject it to see a dermatologist, however, if a person with non-melanoma skin cancer is worried about scars created by removing the cancer then this cream may be an option.
Dr. Oz: Dr. Mercola's Radical Cure for Brain Fog
Dr. Mercola explains that dextoxifying the body of mercury can help to rid brain fog and fatigue. From air pollution to silver fillings, our bodies are exposed to mercury. Silver fillings contain 1 million times more mercury than in food and that mercury is released every time you bite down on a filling.
Fatigue has been linked to mercury in the body and, Dr. Mercola explained, there are tests that a doctor can run to analysis mercury levels in the body.
To counteract the toxic effects of mercury in the system, Dr. Mercola recommends taking chlorella. Chlorella is a fresh water, single cell algae that removes the mercury and sends it out in the stool. Dr. Mercola recommends taking chlorella every time you eat starting with 1 tablet, or 200mg, each meal and working up to 5 tablets, or 1,000mg each meal.
Dr. Oz shared that he only recently realized the health risks from mercury health and that's one of the reasons he says to limit the eating of big fish, like tuna, to no more than two times per week. Dr. Oz also stated that people should consider replacing dark colored fillings with ceramic fillings when older fillings need to be replace.
Other foods that can work synergistically with chlorella are parsley, cilantro and mint.
Dr. Oz Top 10 Anti-Aging Herbs and Spices
The best medicine could be in your spice cupboard. Dr. Mercola recommends using the following Top 10 of herbs and spices as frequently as possible, in every meal as fact. Dr. Oz Four Super Deals to Restore Your Hair
Molly Nover-Baker, Beauty Director of Women's Health Magazine, says you need to know how to shop for hair care to be able to chose from the large variety presented at stores. She says the secret is to know what you're looking for before you go shopping.
Dr. Oz #1 Deal for Hair Health for Limp and Oily Hair
Cost $6
Ms. Nover-Baker says that limp hair happens to folks with lots of fine hair. She recommends using a dry shampoo. Tresemme's Fresh Start line of dry shampoo's contain mineral clay and the provides texture to the hair to allow for styling.
To use Tresemme's Fresh Start Dry Shampoo's, hold the can 6 inches from the scalp and apply in short bursts. Part the hair in small sections, applying short bursts to each section, until all the hair has been treated. Tousle the hair to blend the shampoo. Dry shampoos tend to be white so if your hair color is dark, tousle the hair thoroughly to blend all of the shampoo before leaving the house.
Dr. Oz #2 Deal for Hair Health for Frizzy Hair
Dryer Sheets and Static Removal Spray
Dry and frizzy hair doesn't have enough oil glands to produce the necessary moisture, says Ms. Nover-Baker. She recommends using fragrance-free dryer sheets and static removal spray to remove static from the hair.
To use, open a dryer sheet and pat the sheet on the hair. Don't rub the sheet in the hair as that will make more static. If the dryer sheet doesn't do the trick, use a static removal spray. Spray the static removal on a tissue or a hair brush and gently smooth it over the top of the hair.
Dr. Oz #3 Deal for Hair Health for Dull and Faded Hair
Cost: about $8.99
Chemical processes and heat damage from styling tools can lead to dull, damaged hair, says Ms. Nover-Baker. This damage causes the hair to become textured in a way that prevents hair coloring from penetrating the hair and you end up with a faded color.
Giovanni's Colorflage™ is a temporary hair color in a shampoo and conditioner. This temporary color will wash out unless use it is used for every washing. Ms. Nover-Baker says she likes the Giovanni Colorflage™ because it contains antioxidants and as well as UV protection, sun exposure can also fade the hair.
Dr. Oz #4 Deal for Hair Health for Split Ends
Dr. Oz says he was shocked by this recommendation for split ends. Ms. Nover-Baker explained that sun screen contains silicone polymers and Vitamin E which can rehabilitate and strengthen the hair.
There is no fix for split ends, says Ms. Nover-Baker, they have to be cut off. Products that say they can fix split ends are providing a temporary seal.
Start with a dab of sun screen, about the size of a pea, and rub between the hands. Apply the sun screen to the ends only, avoiding the top of hair as it will weigh down the hair.
Dr. Oz Best Bar of Soap For Your Skin Type
Dermatologist Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, MD says all soaps are not created equal. Our skin is always changing so you can make a big difference in your skin care by changing your soap.
[Working with natural cosmetics for a decade, I was told to avoid bar soaps on the face. The main reason being is that the skin on the face requires a little acidity to keep bacteria away. The majority of bar soaps are alkalizing and therefore would not be able to support that natural need for acidity.
I tend towards liquid cleansers specifically designed for the face and, for me personally, a cleanser that contains nourishing oils. Some of the bars recommended in this segment are, however, designed for the face but, I've got to admit, I'm still skeptical.]
Dr. Oz: Soap for Sensitive Skin
Cost: $1.99
Dr. Tanzi says to avoid fragrances and harsh detergents when looking seeking a bar soap for sensitive skin.
Dr. Oz Soap for Dry Skin
Cost: $3.99
Dr. Oz showed an animation of how the texture of dry skin is flaky and those flakes reflect light unevenly making skin look older than it really is. Dr. Tanzi says the Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar cleans debris from the face but doesn't take away the natural oils that provides protection to the skin.
Dr. Oz Soap for Oily Skin
Cost: $2.49
Glycerin in the Neutrogena Transparent Facial Bar, says Dr. Tanzi, cuts through grease on the skin and washes away easily. This bar can be used all over the body.
Dr. Oz Soap for Acne Prone Skin
Cost: $7.99
Dr. Tanzi explained that the PanOxyl® 10% Acne Cleansing Bar contains 10% benzoyl peroxide to cut through oils on the skin and kill bacteria that can lead to acne.
Dr. Oz Soap for Flaky Skin
Cost: about $6.99
Dr. Oz showed an animation of a discoloring of the skin on the back which looked like a tan peeling away. The audience assistant says she gets flaky skin on the face and the rest of her body.
Dr. Tanzi explains that this particular type of flaky skin is not just dry skin but a yeast infection that causes discoloration of the skin on the face, abdomen and back too. The yeast is actually naturally occurring but when it grows in an over abundance it causes problems.
Dr. Oz Bonus Tips! Three Things You Should Do In the Shower
Dr. Oz Shower Tip #1: Dry razor after shaving
Dr. Oz says after using a razor in the shower, give it a quick flick and blow on it three times. A worn out razor can hurt, burn the skin and can cause a staff infection. Keeping your razor dry will help it to last longer.
Dr. Oz Shower Tip #2: Wash the face last
The residue from shampoo and conditioner gets on the face and can cause break outs. To remove the residue, wash your face last.
Dr. Oz Shower Tip #3: Lukewarm temperature
Hot water from the shower can make the skin dry and itchy. To demonstrate, Dr. Oz showed how hot water can strip butter, representing natural oils on the skin. Lukewarm water, doesn't melt the butter, allows the skin's natural oils to lock in. Dr. Oz says to keep the shower under 10 minutes, don't waste water.
